Major General John Hay Beith (April 17, 1876 - September 22, 1952), pen name Ian Hay, British novelist and playwright, vintage silver print Vaughan & Freeman photograph. Penning such works as "Pip" (1907) and the best seller, "The First Hundred Thousand" (1915), Beith also served as a British schoolmaster and soldier during World War I and Director of Public Relations at the War Office during World War II.
Handsome bust-length portrait, featuring notations on verso in an unidentified hand, along with the stamp: "To be returned to P. S. Rogers / 313 West 40th St / New York City."
Measuring approximately 5.5 x 7.5, this vintage silver print photograph is in fine condition.
