Jacqueline Kennedy (July 28, 1929 – May 19, 1994), wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and First Lady of the United States.
Original typed letter transcription by Kay McGowan, secretary to Oleg Cassini. A letter sent to Joseph Boccheir, Design Coordinator for Oleg Cassini Inc. by Jacqueline Kennedy. McGowan would transcribe and type incoming letters from Mrs. Kennedy to forward to Boccheir and Cassini.
The transcription letter is typed on Oleg Cassini letterhead and includes a pencil notation "Copy from Kay" along with a note from Boccheir "Rush on This."
Oleg Cassini (11 April 1913 – 17 March 2006) was an American fashion designer born to an aristocratic Russian family with maternal Italian ancestry. He came to the United States as a young man after starting as a designer in Rome, and quickly got work with Paramount Pictures. Cassini established his reputation by designing for films.
He became particularly well known as a designer for Jacqueline Kennedy whilst she was First Lady of the United States. The "Jackie Look" was to become highly influential and much admired. Among Cassini's inspirations were sports and Native American culture.
Fine condition with a touch of spotted foxing.
