Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Flier on front is a reward poster from Pinkerton's National Detective Agency, offering $250 for information leading to the arrest of Edward J. Tierney.
Letter affixed to verso is from the Minneapolis Police Department, dated March 21, 1911, stating: "Enclosed please find copy of a painting stolen from Davie & Co., of this city on the night of March 20th. It is valued at $1,000.00 and is 3feet [sic] by 4 feet in dimensions...," posted by Michael Mealey, Sup't of Police.
Official stamp: "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal," appears on each announcement, the first dated April 1, 1911, and the second March 27, 1911.
From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.
Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
