Original "Wanted By The FBI" notice for information leading to the apprehension of "Robert Grover Clark" on charges of "speeding...in a stolen automobile," posted on February 21, 1944 by "John Edgar Hoover, Director / Bureau of Investigation / United States Department of Justice / Washington, D. C."
Verso bears print: "Federal Bureau of Investigation / United States Department of Justice / Official Business," along with a lengthy list of branches and some ink notations in an unknown hand.
From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.
Measuring approximately 10.5 x 16, this notice is in overall fine condition, with light toning and intersecting folds.
