Jacqueline Kennedy to Oleg Cassini

Jacqueline Kennedy (July 28, 1929 – May 19, 1994), wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and First Lady of the United States, fashion tear sheet with original hand-written notes by Mrs. Kennedy. 

A 9 x 12.50" fashion tear sheet, sent by Jackie Kennedy to her fashion designer Oleg Cassini. Jackie pens a note in-part, "Maybe - note too mad about it - prefer pale green to topaz..."

Oleg Cassini (11 April 1913 – 17 March 2006) was an American fashion designer born to an aristocratic Russian family with maternal Italian ancestry. He came to the United States as a young man after starting as a designer in Rome, and quickly got work with Paramount Pictures. Cassini established his reputation by designing for films.

He became particularly well known as a designer for Jacqueline Kennedy whilst she was First Lady of the United States. The "Jackie Look" was to become highly influential and much admired. Among Cassini's inspirations were sports and Native American culture.

This piece provides a first hand look at the creative process which would define the timeless style of American’s beloved First Lady.
