"The Gentleman's Magazine", original published annual for the year 1741. The Gentleman's Magazine was the first periodical to use the term magazine and ran uninterrupted for almost 200 years, from 1731 to 1922. The magazine served as a monthly digest of news and commentary on a wide variety of issues.
The annual provides a complete collection of each monthly magazine for the year. Included in the monthly publications are various essays, poems, historical chronicles and parliamentary reports, in the form of "Debates in the Senate of Lilliput."
