Smithsonian Institution, vintage 8 x 10 inch double-weight, silver print, fiber photograph, credited to photographer Arnold Newman. The photograph depicts the flag that flew over Fort McHenry during the War of 1812, inspiring Francis Scott Key's "Star Spangled Banner." Printed in the second half of the 20th century as part of the American Heritage Publishing Archive.
Arnold Newman (March 3, 1918 - June 6, 2006), was an acclaimed American photographer noted for his "environmental portraits" of artists and politicians, as well as his carefully composed abstract still life images.
Verso bears credit stampings and filing notations. In very good condition.
