John & Jacqueline Kennedy

John F. Kennedy (29 May 1917- 22 November 1963),  thirty-fifth President of the United States,  original, vintage, unsigned "8"x10" glossy color candid photograph picturing President Kennedy and First Lady Jackie at a black tie dinner given by Ambassador and Lady Beale of Australia.

A stunning photo of Jackie Kennedy, with her husband, the President, in the background, and the Ambassador and Lady Beale of Australia surrounding them.  The photo was taken at The Breakers in Newport, R.I. Hosted by the Honorable Sir Howard Beale,  Ambassador of Australia to the United States, President Kennedy toasted crews of the Gretel and the Weatherly, describing sporting contests as beneficial to international relations, and characterizing the historical relationship between Australia and the United States as a friendship built upon a common commitment to the sea.

The reverse side of the photo bears a stamp which reads 23805 14 SEP 1962.  On the bottom of the reverse side of the photo, Dave Powers, Kennedy's aide and close personal friend, has penned in blue ink "SEPT. 14, 1962  American Cup Dinner at the Breakers, Newport R.I.  Given by Ambassador and Lady Beale of Australia"

Provenance: Photograph originates from the estate of Dave Powers (April 25, 1912 – March 27, 1998). A typed itinerary with handwritten notes by Powers accompanies the photo. Fine condition other than a paper clip imprint and some indentation from Powers' pen in the lower left corner.
