Vintage silver print glossy fiber 8 x 10 inch photograph depicting a still from the short silent film "Fatima's Coochee-Coochee Dance." Created and published by Thomas A. Edison, Inc., 1896.
"Fatima's Coochee-Coochee Dance" (Thomas Edison, 1896) was the first movie to be censored with grid-like pattern of white lines to cover certain areas (in 1907) and it’s one of the earliest existing film records of an authentic Middle Eastern dance artist.
Image circa 1898; printed in the second half of the 20th century as part of the American Heritage Publishing Archive.
Verso bears original handwritten ID notations and credit stampings. In very good condition.
