Frank Lloyd Wright

Frank Lloyd Wright (June 8, 1867 - April 9, 1959), pre-eminent American architect, interior designer, writer and educator, who designed more than 1000 structures and completed 532 works, authentic, original blueprint of the 'Fallingwater' house in PA.

'Fallingwater' (1935) was hailed by Time magazine as Wright's most beautiful work and it was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. Members of the American Institute of Architects named the house the "best all-time work of American architecture" and in 2007, it was ranked twenty-ninth on the list of America's Favorite Architecture according to the AIA. 'Fallingwater' was one of Wright's great works of the 1930s which helped to aid in his re-emergence in the architectural scene in his mid-sixties.

These blueprints derive from the estate of Walter Hall, the primary contractor on the project. Hall, Wright, and indeed Kaufmann all argued at great length and expense about the plausibility of engineering a house cantilevered over the falls. At one point Kaufmann brought in consulting engineers who built a support wall for the cantilever. When Wright discovered the wall, he removed the top row of stones without informing Kaufmann thereby proving that the cantilever could hold without the wall's support. In that context, the extensive pencil calculations and sketches are of particular interest. The blueprints give every evidence of being used at a construction site next to a waterfall,

In good condition, aside from heavy creasing, light overall wrinkling and large scattered bleaching spots. Additionally, the blueprint has some light soiling from apparent use.
