Robert Henry Kennerley Rumford, (September 2, 1870 – March 9, 1957), English baritone singer of the 20th century, vintage postcard. Photograph features Rumford's wife, Clara Butt and children. From the "Rotary Photographic Plate Sunk Gem Series."
He was first known for his performances of Oratorio, but following his marriage to the well-known contralto singer Clara Butt, he toured with her throughout the English-speaking world singing repertoire of a more popular type. He was twice mentioned in dispatches while serving on the Western Front during the First World War, going to France in 1914 as a Driver in a motor-ambulance unit, ending the war as a captain. He made a number of recordings for HMV.
Verso bears original postcard graphics, and handwritten notation. In very good condition with slight signs of wear and handling.
