Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (April 1906 – March 25, 1975), King of Saudi Arabia from 1964 to 1975, original, vintage glossy press photograph. As king, he is credited with rescuing the country's finances and implementing a policy of modernization and reform, while his main foreign policy themes were pan-Islamism, anti-Communism, and pro-Palestinian nationalism. He successfully stabilized the kingdom's bureaucracy and his reign had significant popularity among Saudis. In 1975, he was assassinated by his nephew Faisal bin Musaid.
Print on verso identifies the scene in both French and English: "After leaving Syria King Faisal of Saudi Arabia in Jordan on his way to Egypt. On his meeting with King Hussein King Faisal once again stressed importance of solidarity and discussed means to strengthen bonds among the Arab countries." Verso also bears press hand stamp, crediting the photo to Gamma of Paris.
Measuring approximately 8 x 11.25, this photograph exhibits the expected age wear, scattered surface marks and trimmed edges.
