Wanted Posters

Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Poster on front reads: "$200 Reward! / The Governor of Virginia will pay...for the apprehending and securing of Henry Lester...who is charged in this county with killing one Robert Lester, on the 21st of March, 1911," dated April 11, 1911.

Flier affixed to verso is a wanted poster for "Reward / Will be paid for recovery of following / Articles Stolen from the residence of A. S. Caldwell," listing 40 stolen items.

Poster in verso bears the official stamp: "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal, April 19 1911, Hall of Justice."

From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
