Wanted Posters

Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Poster on front reads: "$50.00 Reward / Will be paid for the arrest of Joseph A. Conlen...This man absconded with approximately Twenty-six hundred dollars ($2600), and has been indicted for embezzlement...," posted by Thomas S. Farnan, Marshal, Baltimore, Maryland.

Letter affixed to verso details a jail break at Chehalis, Lewis County, Washington, each prisoner of which was "charged with felony," listing the following escapees: Frank Parmenter, Charles Raymond, Charles Taylor, Frank Goodwin and J.R. Stewart. A vintage photograph of Charles Raymond is attached to the top of the letter with original paperclip.

Front poster bears the official stamp: "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal, May 3 1911, Hall of Justice."

From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
