Wanted Posters

Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Posters on front reads: "Wanted for Embezzlement and Fraudulently Converting Money / (Judge) John S. Adair / This party converted to his own use the funds of the Two States Bank at Stephensport, KY., amounting to sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000.00)...," posted by John P. Carney, Chief of Detectives, Louisville, Kentucky, dated May 10, 1911.

Flier affixed to verso reads, "Wanted...imformation [sic] having been made and indictment found for embezzlment [sic] against Joseph Chrisman," posted by Thomas A. McQuaide, Superintendent of Police, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania." 

Each poster bears the official stamp: "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal, May 13 1911, Hall of Justice."

From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
