Daniel Nilva (1914 – 1984), photographer, original, glossy 8 x 10 inch photograph of New York City. "Taking down the 'EL.,'" one of the last of the city's elevated subways.
The son of Russian Jewish immigrants, Nilva began working as a freelance photographer in the 1930s while holding other jobs. After World War II he turned to photography full-time, working for a number of New York unions, including the International Ladies Garment Workers, Department Store Workers (District Council 65), Textile Workers Union, the United Electrical Workers, and the International Longshoremen's Association.
Verso bears original 'Daniel Nilva' credit stamping. In very good condition with minor surface marking and rippling.
