Jacqueline Cochran (May 11, 1906 - August 9, 1980), pioneer female aviator who is remembered as being one of the most well skilled racing pilots of her time. She also led the way for other female aviators for generations to come. For example, in 1937, she was the first female to compete in the Bendix race and later that year, with Amelia Earhart, helped to open the race for women. She was also the first female to fly a bomber over the Atlantic. Cochran is also well known for her contributions to the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC) and the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP). This original vintage First Day Cover is autographed by Cochrane and in excellent condition.
