Gus Grissom

Virgil Ivan "Gus" Grissom (April 3, 1926 - January 27, 1967) former astronaut and one of the original seven members of NASA's Project Mercury, autographed First Day Cover. Grissom was the second American to fly in space but his career was short lived as he, along with Ed White and Roger Chaffee, were killed during a pre-launch test of Apollo 1. He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and, posthumously, the Congressional Space Medal of honor. This is an extremely rare autograph and a must for all collector's of space flight memorabilia. This original vintage First Day Cover is autographed by Grissom and is in excellent condition.
