Betty Skelton

Authentic autographed vintage 'First Day Of Issue' postcard hand signed by Aviation legend Betty Skelton (born June 28, 1926) who is a retired land speed record car driver and acrobatic airplane pilot who set 17 aviation and automobile records, was known as 'the First Lady of Firsts', and helped create opportunities for women in aviation, auto racing, astronautics and advertising. This vintage commemorative post card, canceled on Sept. 16, 1978, is hand signed by Skelton in her signature red felt tip marker, seemingly her marker of choice for autographs, adding her favorite inscription "Happy Landings". This postcard features a US Airmail 21c cachet.
