Stephen Benton Elkins

Stephen Benton Elkins (September 26, 1841-January 4, 1911), United States Secretary of War and Senator from West Virginia, authentic, autographed typed letter. This signed letter written to United States President William McKinley on March 23, 1897, is a recommendation for a federal appointment and is in fair condition for its age with a number of dings and folds. A wonderful 19th century document on official United States Senate letterhead.
