Autographed Letter
$249.00 - Product is currently out of stock.
Henry Rankin Poore (March 21, 1859 - August 15, 1940), notable American painter, authentic, autographed vintage handwritten letter (ALS), two pages front and verso, 8.5 x 7.25, dated March 3rd, 1831. Best known for his paintings of dogs, hunting and sporting scenes, western mining, landscapes and most notably, the famous "The Fox Chase" mural.
Penning a beautifully flowing note to Piree MacDonald on personal letterhead, Poore writes, in full: "I still have copies of those excellent pictures you made of me when I was somewhat handsomer than I am now, where, as I remember, you said you wanted your subjects to express a sort of 'challenge.' They keep on challenging anything else that has been done of me since & I am proud to have them but will not ask you to retain the plates longer. I am enclosing a few opinions on my latest which gets deeper under the skin than 'Pictorial Composition,' which you so graciously commended. With best wishes ever believe me, Very Sincerely, Henry R. Poore."
The expected horizontal mailing fold, a few faint paperclip impressions at the top edge and some mild show-through from ink on verso, otherwise fine condition.
