Henri-Jacques-Guillaume Clarke (17 October 1765 - 28 October 1818), 1st Count of Hunebourg and 1st Duke of Feltre, authentic, autographed manuscript letter (LS). This one page letter is approximately 8" x 9" in size and is dated February 15, 1802. It is attached to a larger sheet of paper approximately 8" x 12" in size.
Clarke was one of the most influential and charismatic Franco-Irish generals in the French Army during the Napoleonic period. During the French Revolutionary Wars, Clarke served in the Army of the Rhine and was promoted to Brigadier General in 1793.
In 1807, Napoleon appointed him Minister of War. He held this post until the end of Napoleon's reign.
This untranslated letter is crisply signed at the conclusion by Clarke. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. There are scattered creases and expected intersecting folds.
