Gerald Ford (July 14, 1913 – December 26, 2006), 38th President of the United States, authentic autographed typed letter (TLS). The letter is typed on official stationary of the Vice President and is dated December 7, 1973.
A day after assuming the office of Vice President, Ford writes to Congressman Bill Young: "With humility and gratitude, I thank you for your confidence in confirming my nomination as Vice President of the United States. It is heartwarming to have your personal support and encouragement as I enter this new office.
Naturally, I am sad at leaving the House which has been my home for nearly twenty-five years. However, fulfilling the responsibilities of the second office in our Nation is a challenge in which I will need the support and counsel of my friends in the House..."
The letter is signed "Jerry" in fountain pen, along with a handwritten "P.S. You are great." Fine condition.
