Eugene Isabey

Eugene Louis Gabriel Isabey (22 July 1803 - 27 April 1886), French painter, autographed annotated letter (ALS). This one page letter measures approximately 7" x 9" in size and is dated circa 1820 -1830. The letter is addressed to an unknown individual and regards a painting he conducted of a plant from his personal garden. 

Isabey was born in Paris and studied and worked at the Louvre Museum. His paintings consisted primarily of land and seascapes. In 1830, he joined the French Expedition to Algiers as an illustrator. Later, he was selected to be one of King Louis-Philippe's court painters.  

This fully translated letter is crisply signed by Isabey at the conclusion. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. There are some scattered creases, expected intersecting folds and a small tear along the middle fold which does not affect any of the wording.
