Etienne Jacques Joseph Alexandre Macdonald, 1st Duke of Taranto (November 17, 1765 - September 7, 1840), Marshal of France and military leader, authentic, autographed vintage handwritten letter (ALS).
MacDonald was a military leader during both the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. He was presented with the Sabre of Murad bey for his fidelity to Napoleon Bonaparte. At the Bourbon Restoration, he was made a Peer of France and remained faithful to the new order under King Louis XVIII during the Hundred Days. In 1815, he was made Chancellor of the Legion of Honour.
Approximately 7.5" x 9" in size. Written across four panels of a single folded sheet. Accompanied by an unsigned vintage printed engraving. Fine condition.
