Pierre-Claude Pajol (3 February 1772 - 20 March 1844), French General, authentic, autographed annotated letter (LS). This one page letter is approximately 4" x 7" in size and is dated December 6, 1808. The letter is addressed to a Monsieur Brach and is a request by Pajol to send him extra funds. On the reverse is an address leaf and remnants of a former red was seal.
Pajol was a distinguished French General in both the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. During the First Empire, Pajol served as a Colonel and as a delegate at Napoleon's coronation. He distinguished himself at the Battle of Austerlitz and was later made a Brigadier General of the Grand Army. In 1808, he was named a Baron of the Empire.
The document is crisply signed by Pajol at the conclusion. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. The letter contains some scattered creases and intersecting folds. The last page contains a tear in the top right hand corner which does not affect any of the wording. There is also remnants of a former adhesive mounting along the left hand margin on the reverse.
