Griffin has hand written the following account on an 8.5x11 custom collectors sheet entitled "Memories in the Skies - The Doolittle Raid, 18 April 1942. The first air raid by the United States to strike a Japanese home island during World War II." "The most memorable moment which I can recall was when our position was detected by an enemy surface vessel. Immediately afterward an announcement came over the Hornet's loud speakers 'Army, man your planes!' Sincerely, Charles J. Ozuk."
