Charles Auguste Emile Durand, known as Carolus-Duran (4 July 1827 - 17 February 1917), French Painter and art instructor, authentic, autographed annotated letter (ALS). This three page letter measures approximately 4" x 6" in size and is dated April 27, 1891.

The letter is addressed to the Minister of Justice. in the letter, Carolus-Duran recommends a friend for naturalization. 

Carolus-Duran was a French painter and art instructor. He is noted for his stylish depictions of members of high society in Third Republic France. One of his more well kown portraits was that of "The Assassination" in 1866. 

In 1889 he was made a Commander of the French Legion of Honour. He is also known for partaking in the creation of the Societe Nationale des Beaux Arts. 

This letter is crisply signed at the conclusion by Carolus-Duran. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. The letter contains some scattered creases and expected fold lines.
