Alfred Eisenstaedt (December 6, 1898 – August 23, 1995), German-born American photographer and photojournalist, authentic, autographed typed letter (TLS), one page, dated November 29, 1976. Garnering prominence as a staff photographer for Life Magazine, more than 90 of Eisenstaedt's images appeared on the cover, the most famous of which was the V-J Day celebration in New York City of "an exuberant American sailor kissing a nurse in a dancelike dip [that] summed up the euphoria many Americans felt as the war came to a close."
Composed on Life magazine letterhead, Eisenstaedt sends an irritated note to "Gilbert, Felix & Shark," in part: "This is the third time I request you to send me your publicity material and announcements to my office address and not to my home in Jackson Heights...," signing at the conclusion.
Measuring approximately 6.25 x 6.75, this letter is in fine condition.
