Albert Bruce-Joy (August 21, 1842 – July 22, 1924), Irish sculptor, authentic, autographed handwritten letter (ALS), eight pages, dated Mary 12, 1882 [?]. Joy is most widely revered for his portrait statues, busts and medallions, including the statue of Robert James Graves for the Royal College of Physicians in Dublin.

Joy writes to "Mrs. de Salis," in part: "It will give me much pleasure to send some photographs for Mr. de Salis to look at & I shall be very glad if you will kindly keep them, if you care to do so. It was very kind of you to go to see the statue again, & I am very pleased to hear that you approved of the means I have taken to show the work to advantage...One of Mr. Gladstone's sons sent you a great many of the names of his & his fathers chief friends in both Houses of Parliament & Lady Cranbrook, Mrs. Max Muller, & other friends have also sent me many - so the affair has been generally read about - & must do me good sooner or later...," signed, "A. Bruce Joy."

Measuring approximately 4.5 x 7, this letter is in overall fine condition, with light age wear.
