Horatio Walpole (8 December 1678 - 5 February 1757), English diplomatist and 1st Baron Walpole, authentic, autographed manuscript document (DS). Document measures approximately 7" x 12" in size and is dated April 19, 1738.

Walpole came from a prominent English family and was the younger brother of the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Sir Robert Walpole. He was educated at Eton and King's College, Cambridge, where he was a fellow. In 1702, Walpole entered Parliament where he remained a member for fifty-four years. He went on to hold the positions of secretary to the treasury (twice) and secretary to the lord-lieutenant of Ireland (1720).

During his time in Parliament, Walpole went on diplomatic missions to the Hague as well as Paris, where in 1724 he was appointed envoy extraordinary and minister plenipotentiary. In 1756 he was created Baron Walpole of Wolterton but passed away soon thereafter in 1757. He was married to Marry Magdalen Lombard with whom he bore nine children with.

This financial document represents an annuities payment and is crisply signed by Walpole in two seperate areas. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signatures. The document contains scattered creases, small tears and one fold through the center.
