Lillie Hamilton French (1854-1939), American author, autographed vintage handwritten quotation (AQS). French's published works include "Hezekiah's Wives" (1902), "Homes and Their Decoration" (1903) and "My Old Maid's Corner" (1903).
Extracted from the pages of a 1902 Autograph Calendar book recovered from Orange Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, French added the following quote to a page with the printed date of April 21: 'He found it so easy to be valiant in the sunshine, but when night came he yielded himself, as we all must, to a higher watchfulness.' From 'Hezekiah's Wives.' / Lillie Hamilton French."
Measuring approximately 7.75 x 5, this autographed quotation is in overall fine condition, with light toning and a rough left edge from extraction.
