John Bates Clark (January 26, 1847 – March 21, 1938), American neoclassical economist, authentic, autographed vintage handwritten quotation (AQS), 7.75 x 5. A pioneer of the marginalist revolution and opponent to the Institutional school of economics, Clark spent a vast portion of his career as a professor at Columbia University.
Extracted from the pages of a 1902 Autograph Calendar book recovered from Orange Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, Clark added the following quote to a page with the printed date of September 14: "Evolution is honest. It is carrying us toward a state in which every man will get what he produces and will be able to produce what he needs. John Bates Clark."
In fine condition, with overall light toning and a rough left edge from extraction.
