Charles Henry Parkhurst (April 17, 1842-September 8, 1933), American clergyman and social reformer, authentic, autographed vintage handwritten quotation (AQS), 7.75 x 5. In 1892, Parkhurst preached two heated sermons, both aimed at revealing the political corruption of New York City's government. Due to these statements and the evidence Parkhurst gathered, Tammany Hall was exposed.
Extracted from the pages of a 1902 Autograph Calendar book recovered from Orange Memorial Hospital, New Jersey, Parkhurst added the following quote to a page with the printed date of September 2: "Christ brought no books into the world and he never spent nearly as much time preparing his sermons as most preachers spend in preparing theirs, but he did what precious few of his ministers are doing now, he loved people out of their sins. C. H. Parkhurst."
In fine condition, with overall light toning and a rough left edge from extraction.
