Ivan Dmitri (1900 – 1968), notable American artist, authentic, autographed typed letter (TLS), dated March 20, 1961, and an autographed note. Dmitri helped to gain acceptance for photography as an art medium, and established one of the first photography exhibits at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1959, Ivan Dmitri founded Photography in the Fine Arts.
In a letter composed on Photography in the Fine Arts letterhead measuring approximately 3.5 x 5.75, Dmitri writes to Eileen Widder, in part: "It is an extreme pleasure to inform you that your color photograph 'Pink Lady' has won recognition as a work of art by the PFA National Jury...," signed "Ivan Dmitri"; and an autographed note, measuring approximately 3.5 x 5.75, Dmitri writes to "Eileen," in full: "We have sold your print 'Pink Lady' to E. Nobles Lowe and I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Enclosed is his check," signing, "Ivan."
