David Hume Kennerly (March 9, 1947), award-winning American photographer and photojournalist, authentic, autographed typed letter (TLS), one page, dated February 24, 1979, and a glossy 8 x 10 photograph of a young Kennerly. Winner of the 1972 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for his portfolio of photographs taken of theVietnam War, Cambodia, East Pakistani refugees near Calcutta, and the Ali-Frazier fight in Madison Square Garden on March 8, 1971, Kennerly also captured images of every American president since Richard Nixon.
Composed on personal letterhead, Kennerly writes to a fan's request on behalf of her husband's 100th birthday, in part: "Enclosed is a photo taken of me when I worked at the White House during the Ford Administration. It will, in fact, be in my book entitled 'Shooter' coming out this Fall...," adding in blue ink, "P.S. Tell him we Pisces are destined for long life!"
Photograph bears an inscription in black ink on bottom border, signed, "David Hume Kennerly, 3/11/79."
Measuring approximately 7.25 x 10.5, this letter is in fine condition. Photograph is also in fine condition, with some light surface marks.
