Sir Edmund Hillary (July 20, 1919 - January 11, 2008), world-renowned New Zealand mountaineer notable for his historic summit of Mount Everest, authentic, autographed 11 x 14 inch glossy photograph. Includes a printed quote "...while standing on top of Everest, I looked across the valley, towards the other great peak, Makalu, and mentally worked out a route about how it could be climbed... it showed me that, even though I was standing on top of the world, it wasn't the end of everything for me, by any means. I was still looking beyond to other interesting challenges." Limited Edition, #8/10.
On May 29, 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers to successfully reach the summit of the world's highest mountain. Following his historic climb, Hillary devoted most of his life to helping the Sherpa people, aiding in the construction of many schools and hospitals in Nepal.
Hand-signed by Hillary in bold blue felt tip marker; acquired during a private signing JG Autographs Inc. held with Mr. Hillary, circa 2006. In fine condition.
