Günter Zint (born June 27, 1941 in Fulda ) is a German photographer. 

In 1959 he began a traineeship at the German Press Agency (DPA) in Frankfurt am Main, where he was trained as a photojournalist and editor. He then worked as a reporter for Quick and twen before moving to Sweden and England in 1962. In 1964 he returned to Germany and settled in Hamburg. From 1967 to 1971 he worked hard for the magazine Der Spiegel and then as a freelance press photographer. He was known for his photos in the Hamburg Star Club . In the late 1960s, he founded the St. Pauli News , originally a left-wing tabloid for which Henryk M. Broder and Stefan Aust also wrote. After its sale in 1971, this developed more and more to a Sexpostille. In addition to other orders for Stern , Spiegel, concretely, as well as trade union and foreign newspapers, Zint focused more and more on the priorities he had become important environment, social, neighborhood, etc. Günter Zint describes himself as a "utility photographer".

Later, he participated in the anti-nuclear movement and worked with journalist Günter Wallraff . Since 1964, he contributes with his photos to Wallraff's undercover reports. At the beginning of the 1980s he founded together with the photographers Hinrich Schultze, Marily Stroux, Gaby Schmidt, Jutta Stadach and Inge Kramer the Pan-Foto Agentur for the dissemination of alternative press photos GmbH , which also includes the holdings of Zint's existing since 1966 Pan-Foto Managed archive. In 1999, Zint left his long-time residence Hamburg-Altona and moved to Worpswede . From 1982 he tried to bring his extensive collection of exhibits, documents and photos to the Hamburg district of St. Pauli in a museum, but initially hit promising approaches repeatedly failed or proved to be difficult to finance. Since 2005, the collection has been sponsored by a private association as the St. Pauli Museum , which presents some of this material to the public. In 2011, he moved with the Panfotoarchiv, which contains over 6 million photos of 15 photographers to Behrste in the district of Stade.

Zint is a member of the German Journalists Union in verdi , member of the German Society for Photography and the collecting society Bild-Kunst .
