John Herbert Dillinger (June 22, 1903 – July 22, 1934), American gangster and bank robber, authentic post-mortem black and white headshot of John Dillinger. Gaining notoriety during the Depression-era, Dillinger and his gang were responsible for robbing two dozen banks and four police stations. Dillinger was arrested in Tucson, Arizona, on January 25, 1934 and was turned over to the Sheriff’s Office in Crown Point, Indiana where, on January 30, 1934, he was charged with murder and bank robbery. He escaped again on March 3, 1934 and was killed in Chicago on July 22, 1934, after police tracked him out of Marbro Theatre.

From the Collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force as a patrol officer in 1974 and rose through the ranks. He was Police Chief of Vinita Park, a suburb of St. Louis, from 2001 until his death. Chief Webb was a collector of crime memorabilia that he bought from relatives of criminals and law officers. He had more than 8,000 wanted posters. Some of his items have been used in movies and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 3.5 x 5.5 inches, this photograph is in overall fine condition, with a few minor corner bends.
