Wanted Posters

Original vintage double-sided Wanted Posters, affixed to a slightly larger album page. Poster on front reads, in German: "Internationales Criminal-Polizeiblatt," listing six wanted fugitives. Poster folds out, listing various wanted ads in different languages.

Poster affixed to verso is a Wanted Poster from the "Office of Chief of Police / St. Louis, February 6th, 1911," announcing a "$100.00 Reward / Offered for the Arrest or Information Leading / To the Arrest of / Chas. A. Vinton alias J. D. Harding...wanted for Grand Larceny and Bond Jumping...," posted by "Wm. Young, Chief of Police, / St. Louis, Mo. / Reward stands good until May 1st, 1911."

Poster on verso bears the official stamp: "Office Chief of Police, San Francisco, Cal, Mar 1 1911, Hall of Justice."

From the collection of Police Chief Michael Webb (1950-2009). Webb joined the Vinita Park, Missouri police force in 1974 and served until his death in 2009, during which time he purchased crime artifacts from relatives of criminals and law officers. Boasting more than 8,000 wanted posters, pieces of Webb’s collection have been featured in film and displayed at the National Crime and Punishment Museum in Washington.

Measuring approximately 10 x 12, poster exhibits the expected toning, age wear, some tearing and rippling.
