Rudy Vallée (July 28, 1901 – July 3, 1986), American singer, actor, bandleader, and entertainer, John Marcellus Huston (August 5, 1906 – August 28, 1987), American film director, screenwriter and actor, vintage, glossy 7 x 9 inch photographer. Dated June 26, 1956.
Vallée became what was perhaps the first complete example of the 20th century mass media pop star. Flappers mobbed him wherever he went. His live appearances were usually sold out, and even if his singing could hardly be heard in those venues not yet equipped with the new electronic microphones, his screaming female fans went home happy if they had caught sight of his lips through the opening of the emblematic megaphone he often sang through.
Huston wrote the screenplays for most of the 37 feature films he directed, many of which are today considered classics: 'The Maltese Falcon' (1941), 'The Treasure of the Sierra Madre' (1948), 'Key Largo' (1948), 'The Asphalt Jungle' (1950), 'The African Queen' (1951), 'Moulin Rouge' (1952), 'The Misfits' (1961), and 'The Man Who Would Be King' (1975). During his 46-year career, Huston received 15 Oscar nominations, won twice, and directed both his father, Walter Huston, and daughter, Anjelica Huston, to Oscar wins in different films.
The vintage photograph, printed on a heavy-weight glossy stock is in fine condition with very slight sings of wear or handling. Verso bears original hand written ID and date, else blank and clean.
