Marie Josephine Louise of Savoy (2 September 1753 - 13 November 1810), future wife to King Louis XVIII and titular Queen of the French, authentic, autographed manuscript letter (LS). This two page letter is approximately 3"x 5" in size and is dated January 18, 1840.
Attached to the back of the letter is the envelope for which the letter was delivered. The envelope is attached by an impressive looking seal.
Marie Josephine became Countess of Provence upon her marriage in 1771 and later bestowed the title of Queen when her husband's nephew, King Louis XII, died in 1795.
She was born at the Royal Palace of Turin to her parents the Duke and Duchess of Savoy. Her brothers included the last three Kings of Sardinia from the senior line of Savoy. One of her sisters, Maria Teresa, also married into the French royal family, to King Charles X.
This untranslated letter is crisply signed at the conclusion by Marie Josephine. It is in good to very good condition, with overall light toning not affecting the signature. The document contains scattered creases, small tears and expected intersecting folds.
