The premier fashion photographer of his day, Steichen’s work was made famous through such groundbreaking publications as Camera Work, Art et Décoration, Vogue and Vanity Fair. During his peak, Steichen was regarded as the most well-known and highest paid photographer in the world. He was a co-founder (along with Camera Work magazine founder, Alfred Stieglitz) of the Little Galleries of the Photo-Secession, and would go to become Director of the Department of Photography at New York's Museum of Modern Art.
Composed on personal letterhead, Steichen writes, in full: "I guess you know I enjoyed that book and you bet I'll like to know Mumford. Our book will be out next week," signing, "Steichen," then adding, "I'll bet Stanley Resor is working 26 hrs out of every 24 again."
Measuring approximately 5.5 x 8.5, this letter is in overall fine condition, with the expected mailing folds and an ink mark towards the bottom right corner.
