Franklin D. Roosevelt

Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882 – April 12, 1945), commonly known by his initials FDR, was an American statesman and political leader who served as the 32nd President of the United States, authentic, autographed photograph signed by both President and Mrs. Roosevelt.

Signed “Franklin D. Roosevelt” as President and “Eleanor Roosevelt” as First Lady. Imprinted at lower center “Christmas 1941.” 9.5 x 7.25 inches (visible), complete with original matte and frame for a finished size of 14.25 x 12.25 inches. 

Given as a Christmas gift by President and Mrs. Roosevelt to members of the White House staff, this Associated Press photograph of the Roosevelts seated at a table, Mrs. Roosevelt knitting, the President reading a book, was taken on the south porch at Hyde Park on July 4, 1941.

Just 18 days before Christmas, on December 7, 1941, the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Mrs. Roosevelt later wrote in her Christmas Book, "After that year, the Christmases weren't so cheerful."
