Enola Gay Mission Pilots, authentic autographed 8 x 10 glossy color photograph, hand signed by Enola Gay pilot Paul Tibbets (February 23, 1915 – November 1, 2007), and pilot George Marquardt (July 14, 1919 - August, 15, 2003), pilot of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress "Necessary Evil" assigned to photograph the Hiroshima bombing.
The Enola Gay, named for Tibbets' mother, was the first aircraft to drop an atomic bomb in the history of warfare on the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The attack on Hiroshima and the subsequent bombing of Nagasaki, which remain the only use of nuclear weapons for warfare in history, served to avoid a costly invasion of the Japanese mainland and facilitated the end of the War.
Fine condition.
